I let my best friend loose with my camera and my face :) My edits, my face. Makeup and photography by Dress.Simple.
Twenty One on Flickr.
This is me, as I look today. Today is my birthday. I am twenty one and I don’t feel any different. My favourite film (which came out twenty one years ago) just so happens to be on the television, I like small coincidences.
This is me being myself, rather than playing a character and this is probably why I don’t like this photo very much but it’s honest. I’ve not done my hair; it was in a towel for several hours and only got brushed just before we went out for food. I am wearing no make up or special costumey bits. I did not take this from an angle I know is flattering. I have not tried to make myself beautiful. I am just myself, in my own clothes, sat in the chair in my grandparent’s house which I used to sit in every time I visited without fail – normally curled up reading or sketching.
Now, I am sat opposite, typing this, watching my grandmother knit, listening to my favourite film, texting my boyfriend, seeing notifications pop up on my facebook and contemplating the utter weird-but-perfectness of my best friend. This is my first birthday without my grandad but his picture is smiling down at me from many angles and it feels like home.
Today, I went out for a meal (three courses of deliciousness, photos of which will follow) and took a walk around a garden centre, saying hello to the fish and the chickens and the goats and the rabbits.
I did not get many presents or do anything particularly special but this is the best kind of birthday, later in the year we will go and see a musical. But for now everything is simple and I am myself and I feel like writing poetry.

A Very Strange Place To Sleep
#1 My Back Garden
A new self portrait series. Inspired by the amazing Lissy Elle and the whims of my bedding. Click through for the album, which will slowly be updated with each new photo. This will happen in some very public places. Watch this space.
This was done in about ten minutes. I had to do it quickly in case of rain and before that I had to wait for the ground to dry - the joys of living in England. I love the rain but I didn’t particularly want my bedding to get muddy at this precise point in time. There may be a time when I do.
I was in bed when I thought to do this. I couldn’t sleep for the ideas bombarding my brain, my fingers are tingling with a want to create - scrap that, a need to create. Perhaps I decided to do this because I don’t get much sleep a lot of the time - it is like sleeping in random, not-so-comfortable places even if I am really comfy.
So yes. This is the fruit of a night which started sleepless and ended with some very strange dreams. All of which turned out to be somewhat unnerving.
I got a new lens yesterday and so christened it with a photoset, though not fully complete yet (some photos are waiting to be process) it can be found on facebook. :) There are also a few on my site, which went through a massive update today. The photo links to my site. Please view it in Firefox or Chrome. Not IE! :P It fails in IE.
Facebook link is on the links page. :)
I am currently doodling. I enjoy it, it’s fun. My arm also hurts. So this is going to be short due to typing issues. D: Eep!
